The Lyon County CASA program gives a voice to the most vulnerable children in our community. The volunteers of the Lyon County CASA program step in and step up for children who find themselves in a legal system through no fault of their own. When parents end up needing help it is important that the young children have someone who can advocate for their individual needs.
The Courts do not have an unlimited source of funds. In a rural county such as Lyon County, budgets do not allow for specialized programs. The Lyon County CASA volunteers do much with very little to help fill the void of services for children who have been abused and neglected.
As a District Court Judge for 8 years, I have appreciated the hard work that these volunteers have provided all over Lyon County. They have helped numerous children and families get through very difficult times. With the aid and help of our community, this organization will continue to grow and help even more children.
